Frances Ruth (Smith) Simpson

Frances “Ruth” Simpson passed on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Hospice of NWO surrounded by her loved ones.  Ruth was born on November 10, 1933 in Blanche, Kentucky to Taylor Smith and Jennie Hazel (Miller) Smith.  She graduated from Bell County High School in Pineville, Kentucky and then attained her Associate Degree in Business from Knoxville College of Business.  In 1955, she fell in love and married a family acquaintance, Jack Simpson, Sr and remained married until their divorce in 1988.  During this union, two children were born, Jack Simpson, Jr. in 1956 and Teresa H. Simpson in 1964.  Ruth worked for short time in the 60s for a small business in Rossford which manufactured venetian blinds.  In 1973 she began working at Jobst Institute on Miami Street in Toledo, Ohio.  She worked there until a serious car accident on the way to work forced her to retire earlier than planned in 1995.  She enjoyed shopping, gardening and above all else spending time with her daughter and grandchildren.   She is preceded in death by her parents, son Jack, Jr. and brother & sister-in-law Charles Ray and Alma Smith. She is survived by daughter, Teresa H. Pedelose, granddaughters, Sarah Davis (Steve), Marissa Whitmore (Travis), and grandson, Nicholas Bonnette, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.  A special thank you to the nurses and doctors at Toledo Hospital and the staff of Hospice of NWO, Toledo who cared for Mom with such compassion.

Family will receive friends Monday from 4 – 8 PM in the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 PM followed by interment at Toledo Memorial Park.  Memorial tributes may be made to the family to offset expenses.
