Manuel Soto

Manuel Soto passed away unexpectedly Friday Sept. 27th in St. Vincent mercy Medical Center at the age of 67. He was born May 2, 1952 in Detroit, MI to Eduardo & Bette “Elvira” (Sanchez) Soto.

Manuel was a home remodeling contractor most of his life. He continued up to days working on different projects for family and friends of which he enjoyed helping. Manuel loved going to the casino playing slots as well as playing bingo. He also was an avid sports fan especially the Detroit Lions, University of Michigan Football and the Detroit Tigers.

Manuel could be found spending time with his friends and family at some of the local establishments. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his big smile and generous heart. Most of all his greatest pride and joy was his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law Frank Orsonia;  grandson Isreal A. Garcia and special lifelong friend Antonia Sanchez. Manuel is survived by his children Bianca (Joaquin) Soto, Leandra (John) Flores, Leticia (Jose) Acosta and Raquel (Matthew) Dunlavey; stepchildren Francisco and Elizabeth Ramirez; siblings Angelo Soto, Eduardo (Julia) Soto, Lydia (Soto) Escamilla, Paula (David) Gutierrez and Petra Osornia.

Family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Wednesday after 4 PM followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 7 PM. Interment will be held Thursday at 10 AM in the Woodmere Cemetery 9400 W. Fort St. Detroit, MI 48209. Memorial tributes may be made to his family to offset expenses via this website.
