Robert Thomas Gent “Bobby,” “Bob,” “Bobbo” of Point Place passed away unexpectedly on August 19, 2018 at the age of 38. Robert was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 1,1980 to Robert Glenroy Gent and the late Wendy Leigh (Myers) Gent. He was a class of 1998 graduate of Central Catholic High School.
An avid sports enthusiast, Bob’s love of sports began in childhood during his early days playing baseball and football under the guidance of his father with the North Toledo Oldtimers Football Association (N.T.O.F.A.), continuing on while a student at St Michael’s, St John the Baptist and Central Catholic High School.
Bob was a passionate Ohio State fan (“How bout them Buckeyes?”), a loyal Buffalo Bills supporter (“Da Bills!”), Cincinnati Reds devotee and enjoyed watching NASCAR races. In recent years, he took extreme pride watching the lights of his life, sons Austin and Zaydin, take the football and baseball fields where he would often be found on the sidelines or in the dugout supporting and coaching his boys.
Bob loved everyone unconditionally. He always gave everyone the benefit of the doubt and forgave others easily. It was in his nature to help others. Whether it was diagnosing what was wrong with your car and completing the repair, building a playset or a retaining wall, jumping in to keep score at a game, helping a player warm up or whatever else anyone may need, Bob was there for you. He will be fondly remembered for these qualities along with his wit, great sense of humor and smile. He was loved and cherished by many friends, family and acquaintances who were blessed to know him.
Bob was proceeded in death by his wife Tiffiny (Golas) Gent and his mother Wendy Gent. Left to cherish his memories on earth are his pride and joy- sons Austin Robert Gent and Zaydin Richard Gent, father Robert Glenroy Gent, sister Jennifer Leigh Gent, Uncle George Edward Gent along with many other family members and dear friends.
The family will receive guests Friday, August 24, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd, Toledo, OH (419) 740-6151 where Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 25, 2018 in the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. with internment following at Toledo Memorial Park.
The Gent family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all those who have continued to keep Bobby and his family in their thoughts and prayers while extending their love and support. As you move forward in life’s journey, the family encourages everyone to reflect upon the words of advice left by Bobby shortly before he left this earth, “Just because the past didn’t turn out like you wanted it to, doesn’t mean your future can’t be better than you imagined.” The family suggests that those wishing to make a memorial donation consider a donation to the family to help offset expenses. Condolences may be left for the family at this website.
