Obituary

Ananias "Jake" Allen, 88, took flight and departed this life from the presence of his loving family, on September 12, 32018 at ProMedica Ebeid Hospice. He was born on February 9, 1930 in Town Creek, Alabama to the union of Estella Smith-Allen and Elverse Allen Sr.

He loved his family and accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age.  He was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Church under Senior Pastor, The Reverend Raymond G. Bishop, Jr.

Ananias was an independent, determined and free-spirited man.  He contributed greatly to the Ohio and Michigan Lotteries.   He attended the Town Creek School System in Alabama, later relocating to Ohio in 1950.  Ananias enlisted in the US Airforce in 1951 proudly serving in the Korean War, Seoul Korea. He was also stationed in Fairchild AFB in Spokane, Washington earning multiple medals. He was honorably discharged with a rank of Staff Sergeant in 1955.  After serving his country, Ananias was gainfully employed at the former Interlake Steel from which he retired.  He was preceded in death by both parents; 6 siblings and long-time companion Carolyn Ballard.

Ananias leaves to cherish his memory, former wife, Sadie (Allen) Dawkins; daughters, Patricia A. (Nathaniel L.) Gurley of Fort Worth, TX; Wanda Jean Allen; La Frann Campbell; Alfreda D. Allen all of Toledo, OH; and Lori (Ricky) Thornton of Southfield, MI.  Siblings, Franklin (Mary) Allen of Tuscumbia, AL; Lois Jean Weeks of Chicago, IL and Leroy Allen of Town Creek, AL.  10 grand-children; 33 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great children. Former son-in-law, Perry Campbell; honorary granddaughter Sherease Evans; honorary grandson, Garren "Mike" Leatherman; special friend Mae Catlin and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends.

The family would like to thank Ann Weaver, MSW-LISW, VA Ann Arbor Right at Home Trina Slatinsky, home health-aid. Jackie, Sandra, Shannon and Selena Genesis Healthcare Sylvania, OH; ProMedica Flower Hospital ER physicians' Russell Maxon, Kevin Sullivan hospitalist, Ryan, ER nurse and Jackie ER, social worker.

Family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd.  Friday, September 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM followed by Memorial Services at 1:00 PM Repass following funeral services at Indiana Baptist Church fellowship hall 640 Indiana Baptist Church, Toledo OH Final resting place will be September 24, 2018 at Great Lake National Military Cemetery 4200 Bedford Road Holy MI 48440
