Obituary

Andy Dee lived a very radiant life and spent his last days with his loved ones in his own home. He was brought to his heavenly home by our Lord on November 16, 2016 at the age of 78. Andy passed away secondary to complications of a BIG HEART.

Andy Dee was born July 19, 1938 in Middletown, Connecticut and was raised by his loving parents Mary Walton-Distefano and Angelo P. Distefano, Sr. in New York City.

During Andy's childhood it was noticed by many that he was fearless and ambitious, for example; he shocked his parents when he showed up hauling an airplane into the driveway. With these qualities he made many friends in his childhood, but spent most of his time with his brother Frank Distefano and his cousin Alberta "Tuttie" Hyland. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the U.S.S. FULTON, a submarine tender, from Bainbridge, Maryland. During his time in the military he learned the occupation of welding and took up boxing as a sport. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he began his civilian career as welder for Pratt and Whittney.

Andy loved anything that had wheels; motorcycles, cars, even clocks, and could work magic repairing just about anything, this led him to working in car sales, owning and restoring Corvettes at Classic Corvette and helping run the Antique Barn with Debbie in Toledo, Ohio.

Andy was a true Italian when it came to the kitchen, the food was excellent but made the mess to prove it. He loved to watch sports, his favorite team was the one who was winning, he also loved to watch boxing.

To relax Andy liked to do yard work and tinkering with his toys. If you knew Andy you know he would have a coffee in one hand and a book in another, you also knew he was a fanatical motorcycle and car enthusiast. He knew every line to his favorite movie "The Wild One". Andy was member of IAA, NRA, AMCA and VA.

With open arms Andy Dee will be welcomed to his heavenly home with love by his mother Mary Distefano, father Angelo P. Distefano; mother-in-law Peggy Ansted; brother Frank Distefano; children Michael and Mark Distefano, Jacqueline Abdo and grandchild Michael Syroka.

He has left behind his wife and companion Debbie Ansted Distefano; his grandson Chet who lovingly cared for Andy enabling him to spend his last days comfortably in his own home. Also surviving is his daughter Angela; grandchildren Mark, Tony, Andriel, Kailie, Miah, Lexi and Brie; great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Andy had many in-laws father-in-law Leroy Ansted; sister-in-law Vickie (Dan) Mcfarland, Mark (Gina) Ansted, Dana Galli; daughter -in-law Lorie (Al Jubb), sons-in-law Andy Martin, Danny Abdo, Steve Raymond and many friends.

We the survivors are honoring Andy's wishes by not having a funeral or any kind of service. He wished to be cremated and to be left in the care of  his loving wife Debbie forever.

Any donations please make to any Breast Cancer Society of your choice in memory of his daughter Jacquelinde Abdo. Andy always used to say "All my dreams have wheels"
