Barbara Teresa Duhart-Collins was born on July 3, 1942 to Asa and Bertha Duhart in Toledo, Ohio. She graduated from Scott High School in 1961.

On June 17, 1962, she married Harvey Leroy Collins of Toledo. Though doctors had warned that it might be difficult—if not impossible—for her to have children, just ten months after their marriage, their first child was born. In time, they were blessed with three children: Kimberly Ann, Kelly Lynn, and Harvey Leroy, Jr.—a testament to God’s plan.

They were later blessed with a host of granddaughters—Nicole, Jessica, Courtney, and Danielle—who continued the family legacy with great-grandchildren: Kerryn, Kara, Patyn, Eden, Ardala, Isaiah, Levi, Ezra, Sky, and Freya. Kimberly passed on May 4, 2021, but the rest of the family remains well.

Barbara joined Tabernacle of Faith Worship Center and in time became a deaconess then an elder. She was very devout and faithful in God and could frequently be found at home writing scriptures and honoring God.

Her illness slipped in quietly, and once it was established, it revealed just how serious it was. Although she fought to overcome it, that was not to be. With her husband and son at her bedside, holding her hands, she slipped into God’s eternal embrace. Thank you, Father, for all the time and memories You have given us of her.

Her family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Thursday after 4 PM followed by a Memorial Service at 6 PM.
