Obituary

Carmen Garcia, age 89, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 16, 1936, in Cherokee County, Texas, to Gilberto and Inez Ramirez.

On June 25, 1955, Carmen married the love of her life, Ramon Garcia, in Angola, Indiana, in a ceremony officiated by a justice of the peace. Their marriage of 39 years was marked by deep love, dedication, and a shared commitment to family.

Carmen and her family later moved to Woodville, Ohio, where she attended Woodville Elementary School and later enrolled at Notre Dame Academy for high school. She was a lifelong member of St. Martin de Porres Parish, formerly known as St. Ann Catholic Parish, where her faith and community involvement remained an important part of her life.

She was employed at the Goodyear plant and also volunteered as an assistant coach at St. Ann's, generously giving her time to support and encourage young people in her community.

Carmen had a deep love for life and many passions. She was an avid gardener who created beautiful gardens and flowers wherever she lived. She also enjoyed animal rescue, traveling, antiquing, gambling, and spending cherished time with her grandchildren on Martha's Vineyard, where she delighted in the beauty of the ocean she loved so much.

Above all, Carmen was a devoted mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to helping her children and grandchildren develop their talents and reach their highest potential.

She is survived by her seven children: Raymon Jr., Carlos, Mario, Antonio, Rudolfo, Debra, and Annette; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Joe, Janie, Nieves, and a host of nieces and Nephews.

Carmen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ramon Garcia, her siblings Paul, Salvador, Robert, Gilbert, Basilio, Linda, Angelina, and her granddaughter, Tara Christina Bass.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate nurses of Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their care and support. They also wish to thank Father Morman of Regina Coeli Parish, as well as the many family members and friends who visited and shared their love with Carmen in her final days.

This Saturday March 28th, a family hour will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Martin de Porres Parish, 1119 West Bancroft Street, Toledo, Ohio. A luncheon will follow the service at the church.

Carmen will be remembered for her strength, warmth, faith, and the deep love she shared with her family and all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the generations she nurtured and inspired.
