The family of Carol Tylicki (née Fazekas) is saddened to announce her passing on May 8th, 2026. Carol was born and lived most of her life in Toledo, Ohio where she raised her family “out the Point” (Best Place, Any Place, Point Place). She attended Waite and Clay High Schools, traveled with her husband to a variety of military posts and assignments, and earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the Siena Heights University. Once her children were raised, she worked as a Medical Technologist for a number of local laboratories throughout the Toledo area until her retirement. Following her retirement from work, she refused to retire from her call of service to others as she, along with her husband, volunteered at various charitable and service organizations including the Saint Vincent De Paul Society chapter at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the Toledo Area Office on Aging, the United Way chapters in Toledo, OH and Monroe, MI, and volunteered at the local Metroparks as Trail Patrol. Their efforts were recognized by the Ohio Department of Aging as they were inducted into the Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame, Class of 2019 for their active work in their community.
As wife and mom, Carol was known for her deep love (and patience) for “her boys.” Every Christmas, once all the presents were opened, everyone always looked forward to seeing what would be in that last present mom would bring out – the paper bag full of homemade cookies, cakes, and breads which always included an incredible Polish Coffee Cake. She loved to travel and loved especially walking up and down Duke of Glouster Street in Williamsburg, Virginia with Walt and any of her family who happened to be along.
Carol is proceeded in death by her parents, Ann and Andrew Fazekas, bothers Gerald and Richard Fazekas, and son Walter M. Tylicki. She is survived by her husband of 60+ years, Walter L. Tylicki, two sons Matthew and his wife Kathleen, and Brian and is fiancé Anthony. Carol had seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren: Andrew and his fiancé Burcu, Nick and his son Louis, Stephanie, Matthew, Craig and his wife Megan and son Colt, Aaron, and Samatha.
Visitation will be held at the Castillo Funeral Home located at 1757 Tremainsville Rd, Toledo on Wednesday May 13th and Thursday May 14th from 5 to 7pm with a Rosary Service to be held on Thursday evening. Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Point Place on Friday May 15th at 10:30am followed by procession to and burial at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family invites friends to make memorial contributions to one of mom’s favorite charity organizations: Gabby’s Grief Center (formally Gabby’s Ladder) in Monroe, Michigan.
