Curtis “Curt” Warren Wamer Sr. was born to Hazel and George Wamer on September 9, 1940, in East Toledo. Following a brief and sudden illness, Curt was called home to the Lord on September 7, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Curt shared 64 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Billie Wamer (née McAtee). In his younger years, Curt was a force to be reckoned with, strong-willed, spirited, and full of life, but he was always a fair, devoted, and loving husband and father. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, spending many years as a drywall finisher before completing his career with the City of Toledo, from which he eventually retired.

After leaving Toledo, Curt and Billie began a new adventure in Fulton County, where they discovered new interests and made many treasured memories. Each summer, they planted and tended an impressive garden. Gardening became one of Curt’s greatest passions, and every winter, he eagerly began growing plants from seed in his basement in preparation for spring.

Throughout his life, Curt remained an avid bass fisherman. He enjoyed helping his daughter, Gaynell, with Kids Day at the Fulton County Sportsmen’s Club. Always ready for a new adventure, Curt traveled throughout the United States with Billie and Gaynell by his side. Never one to shy away from adventure, he continued riding roller coasters and ziplining in his 70's and 80’s.

Curt was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and George Wamer; his brothers, Norman and Lawrence (Timer); and his sisters, Beatrice and Marla.

Curt is survived by his devoted wife, Billie Wamer; his daughter, Gaynell Wamer; his son, Curtis “Warren” Wamer Jr.; his grandchildren, Zackary Wamer, Paige Wamer, Christopher (Paige) Wamer, and Jeremy Reeves; and his great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Greyson, Liam, and Presley.

Although Curt’s family and friends are deeply saddened by his passing, they ask that he be remembered as he was throughout most of his life: strong, outgoing, adventurous, and deeply devoted to those he loved. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose presence will be greatly missed. A special thank you to Curt’s grandson Jeremy Reeves, for stepping in, without question, to help his family and grandfather; Jeremy was with them until the end. The family would also like to thank Hospice of Northwest Ohio, as they brought Curt, and his family, comfort and peace in his final weeks on earth.

A celebration of Curt’s remarkable life will be held at a later date. Details will be shared by the family.
