Obituary

Daryl Evan Bell peacefully joined his Lord and Savior on October 17, 2024 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.

Daryl was born January 31,1950 and graduated from Whitmer High School in 1969.  After graduating he married his high school sweetheart Sue Downing on October 24, 1970. Daryl and Sue lived in his childhood home where they raised their children Jerry and Sheila.

Daryl was an avid Ohio State fan and rooted for his Buckeyes every game. Daryl was also a huge Whitmer Panthers fan.  He would cheer for his panthers ringing his cow bell loud and proud. Daryl coached for the Washington Boys Basketball League for more than 10 years. He also coached football for the Monac Hornets and baseball for the Trilby Baseball Association. Over the years Daryl and Jerry coached several teams together.

Daryl was a servant of his Lord Jesus Christ and was a licensed minister. He was an amazing servant and teacher of the word of God to anyone who would listen.  Even when his mind and body were failing him he continued to listen to bible verses and teach us the lessons of the lord. Like any good teacher he would then turn the tables and want us to teach him.

Daryl loved his family with his whole heart. He loved spending his time with his four  grandchildren. He attended all of their events and was proud of all of their accomplishments.

Daryl leaves behind his wife of 54 years Sue, son Jerry (Stephanie) Bell, daughter Sheila (Chad) Hawk, grandchildren  Elizabeth Boltz, Michael (Leanna) Boltz, Connor and Kara Bell, brother Ron (Cathy) Bell, sisters-in-law Gayle (Jim) Riddle, Gerri Downing, Terri (Mike) Meyers, Beth Downing and special cousin Toni Gaylord (Jerry) Mitchell and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Daryl was preceded in death by his parents Sheldon and Dorothy, in-laws  Jerry and Norma Downing and brother-in-law George (Bud) Downing.

Daryl's family would like to send  heartfelt and sincere thank you to the staff at Swanton Valley Memory Care Unit and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the exemplary care you took not only of Daryl but our family as well. You are all true angels on earth. Thank you for making this difficult process a little more bearable. You were a true blessing.
