IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Denis Lee
Vogelbach
April 5, 1956 – April 29, 2024
Denis L. Vogelbach passed away on April 29 2024, after a fall at home and a brief hospital stay. Born and raised in the Old West End, Denny was a proud alumnus of The Rosary Cathedral. Denny excelled in sports and academics, both at the grade school and high school levels. It was at St Francis that Denny showcased his athletic ability participating in baseball, basketball, golf, track and especially on the football field. Upon graduation, Denny attended Univ. of Toledo earning his degree in nursing. He continued his education at Des Moines School of Medicine and Science where he earned his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine. A longtime resident of Temperance Mi, Denny helped with the family business when his parents opened The Little Bavarian restaurant at Douglas and Sterns where he was manager. Known for their traditional German specialties, pizza was always a customer favorite!
As a young boy, his Grandma Vogelbach (a Gold Star Mother) would take Denny via train, to South Bend to see Notre Dame football games. That was not enough to change his loyalties as life time fan of Michigan Football and Tigers baseball. Always willing to talk anything sports, as a young adult Denny traveled many times to Pasadena to cheer on his Wolverines in the Rose Bowl. Denny was an avid runner, running several marathons, including the New York City Marathon. His last marathon was in 2015.
Denny is survived by brother Mike (Lorie), nieces Heidi (Jason) McNamara, Kristin (Thomas) Pace, Michael Jr. (Jennifer) and Elizabeth (Brian) Neidermayer, as well cousins Mary Beth (Kreuz) Durbin and Marty Kreuz. Also, special 2nd cousin Frances Wiser who Denny would often visit and volunteer his time to help out any way possible. Denis was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Manuela "Monnie" (Klescheski) Vogelbach and cousins John and David Kreuz. A special Thank You to Denny's long- time friends Tom, whose care and compassion shined a bright light on Denny's life. To Kerry, John J., Mark, Scott, and Jon K., who shared many beloved stories and pictures of Denny's early years. Also want to THANK the amazing nurses on the 8th floor ICU at ProMedica Toledo Hospital and the nurses and caregivers at NW Hospice of Ohio. God Bless You All!
There will be no visitation and services will be private. Denis will be laid to rest with his parents at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Temperance MI. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to St. Francis DeSales High School or Hospice of NW Ohio.
