Obituary

Donald Sherlock, 69, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, reunited with his beloved wife, Suzan. Surrounded by his family, Don’s final moments reflected the way he lived—filled with love, warmth, and gratitude for those closest to him.

A proud graduate of Woodward High School’s Class of 1974, Don went on to dedicate 40 years of service to Toledo Edison, retiring from Davis-Besse.

On April 24, 1976, Don married his high school sweetheart, Suzan Louise Zeller, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, trust, and unwavering commitment. Together, they created a home filled with laughter and support, raising their two daughters with devotion and care. Their relationship was a true example of enduring love and mutual respect, and its impact lives on through their children and grandchildren.

Don had a lifelong passion for hockey and played in many leagues in his younger years. Having grown up around the water, he enjoyed duck hunting, snowmobiling, and boating. Above all, he cherished time with his family—especially his grandchildren. He treasured trips with loved ones and friends and enjoyed “smithing” with his closest companions.

Don is survived by his loving daughters, Samantha (Ben) Bolbach and Stephanie; and his cherished grandchildren, Lucas, Adeline, Lily, and Evangeline. He is also survived by his brother, James Sherlock; his sister, Carol (Dave) Niezgoda; his mother-in-law, Donna Zeller; sisters-in-law, Diane (Jon) Barbara and Brenda (Jim) Cureton; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were touched by his kindness.

In addition to his beloved wife, Sue, Don was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Velma Sherlock; his father-in-law, Jim Zeller; his brother-in-law, Marty Zeller; and his sister-in-law, Laurie Zeller. His family finds comfort in knowing they are reunited in eternal peace.

A service to honor Don’s life will be held on April 14, 2026, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 4703 N. Summit St., Toledo, Ohio. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 12:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Don’s memory to Messiah Lutheran Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
