Obituary

Our family matriarch, Gloria Jean Jackson was born 11/2/1944 to Marjorie Thornton and Willie Burrow in Detroit, Michigan.  Later she, along with her mom and three brothers, Jimmie, Donald and Ralph Thornton, migrated from Montgomery Alabama to the north end of Toledo.  She graduated from Woodward High School and went on to obtain a Secretarial Certificate from Stautzenberger College.  She was the very proud mother of three sons, Timothy, Tyrone and Curtis Jr and one daughter, Tonya.  In her role as matriarch, she was the caretaker of her mother Marjorie, brother Donald and son, Timothy in their final days.  She was always supportive and sharing of her wisdom with all that she encountered.  She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and loved studying God's Word.  She joined Great Faith Christian Center and became an ordained Evangelist.  She began to deliver God's Word consistently at services or events when requested and teach assigned bible studies on a regular basis.

She did her internship at Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority where she climbed the corporate ladder to become a Housing Manager.  She managed Brand Whitlock, Albertus Brown, Port Lawrence and the last 14 years of her tenure she managed the Weiler Homes.  She received many accolades during her service and retired at the young age of 54.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marjorie Thornton & Willie Burrow; her eldest son, Timothy Thornton, I; her brothers, Jimmie (and sister-in-law Ava) & Donald Thornton; her grandson's Dejuan Patterson and Tyrone Patterson, Jr.; her nephew Kervin Thornton; and special uncle and aunt, Thomas and Christina Williams.

Her legacy continues through her remaining sibling, Ralph Thornton; her children, Tonya & Tyrone (Kathy) Patterson and Curtis Jackson Jr. Her grandchildren, Torianne (Mike) Alston, Timothy Thornton II, Tavon (Cabria) Patterson, Tramon Depp, Talen (Shantoneese) Patterson, Montell Patterson, Toya (Domonique) Patterson-Reed, Keianna Kinnebrew, Curtis Jackson III, Curtis Martell, Curtis Malik, Cameron Curtis; her great-grandchildren Michael, Maximus and Tatum, Tamira, Maliyah, Carter and Skyla; Isaiah, Elijah and Noa; Teesean, Tyrone Patterson III, Alyssa and Chase; Kyrell, Kaleeah, Montell II and Kamila, Dajuan "DJ".  Special cousins, Toni (Darryl) Kirby, Tina and Terry Williams. Her nieces, Sonya King, Chrissey Howell, Nadia (Keith) Thornton-Jefferson and Rita Thornton; nephews CJ Thornton and Theodore Thornton.  Special friends Thelma Moore, Brenda Staples, Gail Koonce and Janet Fields and bonus daughters, Michelle (Vincent) Jeffries-Rhodes and Ashley Carter.  A host of other family and friends.

She impacted the lives of many and was known for her "spice" in her deliverance. She will forever by remembered, cherished and loved!
