Gregory R. Young died at home surrounded by his family at the age of 46. He was born in Toledo on December 14th, 1969 to Richard and Laura (Mayfield) Young. Greg was a 1988 graduate of Whitmer High School.

He was an electrician for IBEW Local 8 working for various contractors throughout the country, including work on the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas. Greg joined the Army in 2003 and was a Cavalry Scout based out of Fort Stewart, Georgia. He served two tours in Iraq and was honorably discharged in 2011.

Greg was a nature lover who experienced the world through his travels and chose to live his life to its fullest capacity. He bungee-jumped in New Zealand, whitewater rafted the Gauley River in West Virginia, and visited many national parks. Greg was an avid hunter and gun collector, and enjoyed shooting trap and skeet. He spent from March to September 2001 hiking the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine.

Preceded in death by his father Richard he is survived by his adoring wife Theresa Lynn, his mother Laura, brother Scott, sister Lisa (Tom) Rainey, grandmother Beverly Mayfield, his nieces Grace and Kate Young, and Sierra and Breck Rainey, and his stepchildren Gabrielle and Charles Never, and numerous aunts, uncles & cousins.

His family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Road on Thursday from 12 noon to 9 pm and after 10 am Friday at Messiah Lutheran Church 4703 North Summit Street, where a celebration of his life will be held at 11 am. The family suggests memorial tributes be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or to a charity of the donor's choice.
