The family of Janice Louise Clark (Herron), 90, of Petersburg, Michigan is deeply saddened
to announce her passing on May 14, 2026 at Hospice of NW Ohio with her family by her side.
Born Janice Louise Atzinger on August 11, 1935 in Freemont Ohio. She was a graduate of
Whitmer High School in 1954. After high school she went on and became a RN in 1955. After
getting her RN degree she worked for 22 years for a GP. Then transitioned to Villa North
Nursing Home where she opened and managed their first skilled nursing unit. She retired after
42 years from something she truly enjoyed; being an RN.
Janice married her first love Harvey C. Herron in June of 1955. They met at Whitmer and
became high school sweet hearts. They had two children together. Harvey passed in November
of 1988. Later Janice found love again meeting Kenneth L. Clark from Ida, Michigan. They
married February of 1995 bringing together two wonderful families. Kenneth passed in 2001.
Among many milestones of her well lived life, Janice enjoyed her work with the Erie United
Methodist Church through the Women’s ground and mission trips. She was a longtime
volunteer with the Monroe County Fair, which many of her friends and family volunteered to
work when she asked. She also enjoyed camping, reading, knitting, playing cards, organizing bus
trips with retired UAW Local 14 workers and watching Tigers baseball.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children Christina Butcher (Herron), Mark (Christine)
Herron, Terry (Sue) Clark, Jeff (Krys) Clark, Dawn Clark. Grandchildren Shannon (David) Gunn,
Karlie (Christian) Mejia, Ryan Herron, Heather (Doug) Hovey, Ryan Clark, Joel Clark, Robert
Clark, Rhonda Delphry, Rebecca (Jason) Cook, Ginger Clark, Bethany (Cayla) Clark, Jessica
(Nathan) Walker, Jordan Clark (Kaylee). 17 Great grandchildren, Phil Atzinger (half-brother) and
many of her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends she made from Michigan to Florida.
Preceded in death by Harvey C. Herron. Kenneth L. Clark. (Siblings) Frank Atzinger, Don
Atzinger, and Carolyn Garner, (Stepson) Randy Clark.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Notifications will be made.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial donations to be made to Erie United Women
and Faith with the Erie United Methodist Church at 1100 Samaria Rd., Erie MI., 48133.
