Obituary

Jeanette Hartford, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on August 12, 2026. She was born on April 19, 1950, to Alfred and Dorothy Spewiek.

Jeanette faced hardship early in life, including contracting polio at a young age and losing her mother when she was just 14. Through life’s challenges, she remained devoted to the people and simple joys that meant the most to her.

She enjoyed playing cards, playing bingo, watching TV game shows, and gardening. Most of all, Jeanette loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, family, and friends, as well as enjoying the companionship of her beloved dogs.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Hartford; her parents, Alfred and Dorothy Speweik; her brothers, Jack, Bob, Wayne, and Gale; and her sisters, Joanne and Janet.

She is survived; her sons, Michael Pierstroff of Celina, OH, Todd (Ellen) Dean of Oak Ridge, NC, and Ray (Inez) Hartford Jr.; her grandchildren, Cody Pierstroff, Kalyn (Ben) Kaufman, Tristan (Emily) Dean, Easton Dean, Tegan (Robert) Beverly, Evyn (Josh Gee)Dean, Raymond (Amber) Hartford, Randy Hartford, and Angelique (Albert Kromer) Hartford; and her great-grandchildren, Leo, Maisy, Logan, Charlie, Amarah, Leto, and Maeve as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jeanette will be remembered for her love of family, her enjoyment of everyday moments, and the memories she leaves with all who knew and loved her.

Her family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Tuesday August 25th after 10 AM followed by funeral service at 11 AM, Interment Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
