Obituary

John passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loving family after a long battle with cancer.

John was born in Bear Creek, Alabama to Walter and Eunice (Hyde) Jacobs. He moved to Missouri at the age of six and later moved to Elmore, Ohio at the age of twelve. He graduated from Harris Elmore High School in 1962. He went on to become a Journeyman Machinist Toolmaker and worked at Atlas Industries in Gibsonburg,  Ohio for 48 years. John married the love of his life, Sharon  on August 29, 1964.

John was a gentleman farmer for 30 years. He was an avid gardener and loved spending time tending to his yard. John had a nurturing spirit that extended to all he encountered. His family was always a central focus in his life.

John enjoyed bowling and golfing for many years. He had a great sense of humor and loved telling jokes. Many friends and family were lucky enough to be part of one of John's practical jokes. John also enjoyed spending time at his farms in Southern Ohio.

After his retirement, John enjoyed traveling many places with Sharon and always enjoyed challenging lady luck at a casino along his travels. He dearly loved and enjoyed spending time with all of his grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Eunice (Hyde) Jacobs; his brother, William Earl Jacobs and his sister,  Madge (Jacobs) Long.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sharon (Osterman Tarsek) Jacobs;

his children Melanie Jacobs,  Jeffery (Vicki) Jacobs and Kathleen (Andrew) Ruch. He is also survived by his siblings Wayne (Marilyn) Jacobs,  Winfred (Joyce) Jacobs, Virginia (Lee) Reynolds and brother-in-law Bruce Tarsek. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren Elizabeth Jacobs, Dustin Bostick, Jason Bostick, Jackson Jacobs,  Adrik Ruch and Anya Ruch.  He also leaves behind many special nieces and nephews who were close to his heart.

The family wishes to extend gratitude and appreciation to the many staff and doctors at University of Michigan Hospital and Hospice of  N. W. Ohio.

A celebration of life will be held during the summer at a future date to be announced.

The family requests any donations be made to Hospice of N.W. Ohio.
