John Dews Kitchen died unexpectedly in his home on January 30, 2019 at the age of 51. He was born September 19, 1967 in Charleston, WV to Jerrold W. & Ruth A. (Marshall) Kitchen. He was auto mechanic for various shops and himself.

John served in the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division as a parachutist and was honorably discharged in 1993.

After attaining his Associates Degree, he was pursing his Bachelor Degree in Physical Therapy. John was active member in the fellowship he loved in AA. He would help write Grants for the T Whitehead Recovery Center and sponsored numerous men in recovery. John was known to put friends, family and disabled veterans before himself. He loved to go golfing and make new friends wherever he went. One of his greatest joys was his family specifically spending time with his nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his children Jonathan Kitchen, Lindsey Kitchen, Cayla Kitchen and Ryan Kitchen; siblings Jean Dolin, Christopher Kitchen and Mark Kitchen.

Family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Saturday after 12 Noon followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2 PM.  Memorial tributes may be made to his family to offset expenses.
