Obituary

My brother, John Lewis Stebbins, filled his world with people who not only loved him, but shared his thirst for life, knowledge, music and joy. Born September 5, 1963, at Toledo Hospital to parents John J. & Pamela (Warriner) Stebbins. Early on he showed a natural curiosity for how things worked. Often being scolded for taking things apart from around the house such as a radio or clock and the electronics that Santa brought him. He would hide recording devices behind furniture, and you would have to remember to watch what you said around the house. Needless to say this behavior carried over into adulthood acquiring him a collection of sound bites, music and videos that would take a second lifetime to replay. He combined his passion of sound and electronics, making him one of the lucky few who made a living doing what he loved. He recently told me his dream job was to be a Disney Sound Imagineer. We grew up in a Disney Family. He loved travel and adventure taking him to places like Ireland, the many trips to Florida over the years and his favorite of all, Yosemite. These travel adventures were not, however, enough to take him away from Ohio. He loved the change of seasons and SNOW! He was anchored by his love for family, the long-term relationships he cherished and his beloved home. A third-generation home with a secret enchanted garden sanctuary enjoyed by “kids” of all ages. Outdoor Patio Theater was my all-time favorite because I knew he would make popcorn and his was the BEST. Halloween was especially fun and sitting around the bonfire. After many years of bacheloring, he met The One. A feisty Redhead that stood up to him and won his heart. After four years of a Nobel fight, the evil, insidious cancer took him from us. On Tuesday, July 7, 2026, he left a big hole in the hearts of those who loved him.

He is preceded in death by our Mother Pamela and our cousin, Patricia Stebbins.

Left behind to grieve are his wife Brandie Stebbins; father John J. (Nancy) Stebbins; siblings, Laurie (Robert) Organo, Donnie (Jan Mick) Stebbins and Rob Rees. Stepchildren, Lyric Stark, Garrin Hamilton and grandchild Atticus Hamilton; Aunt Cathie Kowalski; and cousins Valentina (John) Ferguson, Terri Rollins, Toni Monton, Dan Kowalski and Doug Kowalski; and many members of his extended family and loved ones.

His family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Saturday from 10 AM – 12 Noon for a Celebration of Life with interment to follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
