John E.Swanson, Jr. passed away Monday February 6, 2017 while in hospice care at the age of 60.  He was born Dec. 16, 1956 in Oregon, OH to John & Carol (Large) Swanson, Sr.. John attended Waite High School before going on to work at InterLake Iron. In 1980, he began working at North Star Steel in Monroe as a loader.

John then married Mary Jane Scheuer on Sept. 5, 1980 and were blessed with three children. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and playing cards with friends & family. John was very active as a football, basketball, softball and volleyball coach within the CYO Organization winning the coach of the year award in 1999.

He was an avid fan of John Wayne movies and The Ohio State Buckeyes.

John is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife Mary, children Jacob (Jill), Paul and Sarah (Louis) Lopez; grandchildren Adrianna, Secilia, Anthony, Renesmae and Julian; sister Mary Jo Rill and brother Mike Swanson.

Family will be receiving friends at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Friday after 3 PM followed by a Celebration of his Life at 7PM.  Memorial tributes may be made to John's family, CYO or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
