Obituary

Karen Rankin (Jarzeboski), 69, loving partner, mother, and proud grandmother, passed away on the morning of November 2, 2024.

Karen was born December 14, 1954 in Toledo, Oh to John and Donna Jarzeboski and was preceded in death by them and her brothers Kenny and Johnny. She spent her life living in South Toledo and was a proud graduate of Libbey High School. After high school she worked at the Credit Bureau, Chicago Title and finally retiring from Perrysburg Title upon her cancer diagnosis.

She spent the last 24 years by her partner Steve Ellis' side, loving him, keeping him in line, and rolling her eyes when he annoyed her. Karen was a woman who loved hard and was loved hard in return. She lived her life with great strength, unapologetically, and her stubborn streak kept her going. She wasn't one to mince words – she told it like it was and everyone loved her for that.

She enjoyed spending time with her sister Deborah, whom she considered a best friend, her cousins, and friends. She often hosted cookouts where all were invited, because to Karen all were considered family.

While she enjoyed her friends her true joy and what she lived for were her 11 grandchildren. She loved being a Busia and took the utmost pride in this title. Karen was thrilled with spending 5 minutes, 5 hours or 5 days with them. From babysitting, scratching backs, braiding hair, cooking for them (her famous brownies were always a must), to just sitting back and watching them. When her grandchildren were around Karen never stopped smiling.

She is survived by her loving partner of 24 years Steve Ellis (Steve's daughter's Brandi (Derek) and Ashley; sons and daughters-in-law Anthony (Carrie), Todd (Jen) and her sisters Deborah, Janet (Jim) and brother Melvin (Christine) and her most precious gifts, her grandchildren: Ary'anna, Joshua, Aidan, Mariah, Avery, Angel, Ellie, Junior, Avalon, Reed and Hank.

When you think of Karen remember her strength, feistiness and her unconditional love. Private services were held.
