Keith Merrick Kaighin, Sr. passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026 surrounded by the family he loved so dearly, Keith was born on January 30,1955 in Toledo to Kenneth and Yvonne Kaighin. A proud 1973 graduate of DeVilbiss high school, Keith remained a lifelong fixture in the Toledo community.
On May 27, 1977, he married the love of his life Margaret Badyna; the two would have celebrated 49 years of marriage this coming May. A natural “people person” Keith spent his career in various sales roles where his charisma and ability to strike up a conversation with anyone truly showed. He eventually retired from Menards where he enjoyed the daily interactions with his colleagues and customers alike.
To know Keith was to know a man who lived for his family. He was the life of any gathering and loved fiercely nothing brought him more joy than watching his children play sports an avid fan of Central Catholic and Ohio State Keith was a constant, supportive presence in the stands.
Keith is survived by his beloved wife Margaret; his children Kelly (Andy) Viertlbeck and Keith Kaighin, Jr.; his three grandchildren Jaelyn Kinsley and Alex. He also is survived by his sister Bonnie (Terry) Kaper and brother Kirk (Paula) Kaighin along with many nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Yvonne Kaighin; brother Butch Kaighin and daughter Samantha Kaighin.
Keith’s family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Thursday April 30, 2026 after 3 PM followed by a Celebration of Life service at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or his family to help offset expenses.
