Lawrence D. Ackerman passed away Sunday June 7th in Toledo Hospital at the age of 91. He was born September 20, 1928 in Oregon, OH to Louis and Sophia (Joehlin) Ackerman and attended Clay High School. Lawrence joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. After being honorably  discharged, he began his career at Toledo Metal Spinning 40 + yrs retiring in 1994. On June 18, 1955, Lawrence married Betty Jane Toth , who preceded him in death on May 10, 2007.

Lawrence enjoyed camping and was a handler of German Shepherds in Dog Shows. He also would always be tinkering around his house and would be hanging with his brothers.

He is preceded in death by his siblings Rollie Ackerman, Clyde Ackerman, Wilma Zuver, Marian Ackerman and Otto Lallendorf and is survived by his sister, Velda Brehm; sons Lawrence P. (Regina) Ackerman and Steven L. Ackerman; grandchildren Crystal (John) Estep, Michelle Abraham, Keith Ackerman, Steven Ackerman, Rachel Ackerman and Sarah Ackerman; great grandchildren Lily Abraham,  Riley Abraham, Brett Ackerman, Jordan Estep and McKenzie Estep.

His Family will receive friends for limited visitation (masks must be worn, 40 in building at a time, guest please limit your time so that others may have a chance to pay their respects and social distancing will be observed inside facilities) at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Friday at 10 AM followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11 AM. Interment Restlawn Memorial Park. Funeral luncheon will be provided at the Funeral Home after the burial at Restlawn Cemetery
