Larry Olmstead passed away on January 1, 2026 in Heatherdowns Rehabilitation Center at the age of 62. He was born in Toledo on July 2, 1963 to James & Nancy (Werder) Olmstead and graduated from Whitmer High School in 1981.

Larry was a painting and drywall contractor and worked in maintenance for Lucas County Housing Authority for over 15 yrs. He enjoyed landscaping and the outdoors having a passion for RV's and boats.

Larry had a very animated sense of humor and with his charismatic personality he made friends very easily. His family especially loved when Larry "Lavender" would do the Crazy Leg Dance Off in the Kitchen.

He never passed up an opportunity to go to the Golden Corral for a meal. Most of all, Larry was passionate about his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and would often read the Bible, when he gave you a hug you could feel the love of the Lord.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Michael J. Thomas. Larry is survived by his sisters Pam Miller and Peggy (Roy) Gruetter; brother Randy Olmstead; nieces Fawn Gruetter, Tiffany Miller; nephews Brayden and Chandler Thomas; great nephews Dustin and Devin; Uncle John  and Aunt Liz Werder; and cousins Sarah Werder and John Michael (Dawn) Werder as well as many close friends who knew and loved him.

His family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Saturday January. 10th after 10 AM followed by funeral services at 11:30 AM with interment to follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial tributes may be made to his family via this website to help offset expenses.
