Melissa Gay Sansom passed away Saturday October 19, 2019 in St. Anne Mercy Hospital at the age of 63. She was born April 11, 1956 to Paul and Billie (Edlen) Sansom and graduated from Whitmer High School in 1974.

Melissa was an exceptional server and was loved by her customers at various restaurants in Toledo including Webber's Waterfront, Ahmed's Steakhouse and Bravo Italian.

For those that did not have the privilege of knowing Our Mother, we can only describe with the following: she was the most compassionate, positive, selfless, loyal giving, gentle, nurturing, supportive, comforting, accepting, patient, graceful, tenderhearted, caring woman. She also was wise, protective and was never afraid to talk to anyone anywhere; just a small example of her strength and bravery.

She had quite the green thumb caring for her plants and flowers. Melissa also enjoyed cooking, boating and swimming.

Her greatest love was her family. She loved her children, grandchildren and all her dogs and animals.

Melissa is preceded in death by her parents and sister Victoria and is survived by her children Samantha (Eric) Tomaszewski, Christine Tafelski (Cory Blackford), and Anthony Tafelski (Jessica Cornish); grandchildren Katelynn Tafelski, Mackenzie Tomaszewski, Matthew Tafelski, Nathan Tafelski, Eric Tomaszewski and Taylor Tafelski; and siblings Harold, Tracy and Debra

Family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Friday after 11 AM followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2 PM followed by inurnment at Toledo Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to Olander Park Nederhouser Community Hall for food and refreshments after committal.
