Melvin L. Wittich went to be with his Lord & Savior on August 3, 2016 at 9:12 AM. Mel was born October 16, 1934 at the family homestead, a white house on the curve, in Swanton, OH. He was the last child born to Fred & Myrtle Wittich, Mel graduated from Macomber High School. Out of a sense of loyalty to his country, he joined the Marines and served in the Korean War.

He married the love of his life Millie Wallace on February 18, 1956 in Toledo. Their union of love produced four dedicated sons Steve & Beth Anne, Mark & Paulette, Gary and Fred & Inga Marie, who all survive him.

Melvin was a retiree of Local 8 IBEW. He was a friend of "Bill W." for 32 years.

He will always be remembered for his love of bowling, the family cottage, puppy dogs, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his ability to make the best cheesecake EVER!

Melvin is also survived by his brother Roy of Toledo, brother-in-law Richard Soldner of Ocala, FL, 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, many loving nieces & nephews as well as his furry family Lucy & Janie.

Preceding Mel in death were his parents Fred & Myrtle, brothers Howard and Paul; sisters Helen Allen, Doris Balk, Myrtle Rupley, Ruth McGovern and Nina Soldner.

Family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Friday from 2 - 8 PM where a Celebration of Mel's Life will be held Saturday at 11 AM officiated by Douglas Wittich and Timothy Burghardt.
