Robert James Vandergrift passed away unexpectedly on February 19 in his home at the age of 76. He was born December 21, 1940 in St. Paul, MN to Vernon and Olga (Stromick) Vandergrift and moved to Sylvania. Bob attended Sylvania schools graduating from Burnham in 1959.

While a teenager, He began his career in tool & die working for Toledo Mold and eventually working for Obars Machining where he retired from.

After retirement, Bob took up woodworking making everything from furniture to clocks. He enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time on his porch. Bob was an avid golfer, Mud Hen fan, and Toledo Walleye fan.

He is preceded in death by his parents and grandson Garrett William Redlin. Bob is survived by his children Ron (Vivian); Regina Vandergrift and Robin (Greg) Redlin; four grandsons; three great granddaughters; brothers Burman Vandergrift and Doug (Pam) Vandergrift; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Family will be receiving friends Friday after 4 PM in the Castillo Funeral Home followed by a Celebration of His Life will be held at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
