Robert Lee Wilkes, Sr. passed away Monday June 23, 2026, in Hospice of Northwest Ohio at the age of 90. He was born June 10, 1936, in Huntington, West Virginia to Charles & Iva (Pulley) Wilkes.
He served in the U.S. Army. After returning from the Army, Bob had various jobs from hauling junk to being a truck driver. He also had a gift of being a barber to all his family and friends.
Bob enjoyed camping, fishing and going to fairs. He also loved cars and going on car rides with his brother Rupert. Bob also spent time watching his favorite shows westerns and Ice Road Truckers and enjoying a good bowl of chili. Most of all, He loved spending time with family and friends. Many called him either “Dad” or “Grandpa” even if they were not blood related.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son William Wilkes; grandson Chase Wilkes and siblings Debra Wyatt, Rupert Wilkes, Larry Wilkes, John Wilkes and Charles Wilkes. Bob is survived by his children Darla (Joseph) Mrkva and Robert (Barb) Wilkes, Jr.; former wife and dear friend Martha Wilkes; adopted son Charles (Carrie) Williamson siblings Gloria (Joe) Strasbourg and Gladys Upchurch; sisters-in-law Debbie Wilkes and Marlene Wilkes; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren. nieces and nephews.
His family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Saturday after 9 AM followed by funeral services at 12 Noon interment to follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made at the funeral home to his family to help offset expenses.
