Suzanne Carol Smith passed away Wednesday December 10. 2025 in her home with her family by her side at the age of 87. She was born on April 5, 1938 in Toledo to Walter and Mary (Horoszewski) Dembek. She was a devoted loving wife to Charles Smith, whom she married in 1958.
She worked at Textile Leather and as a dental assistant before becoming a full-time homemaker. Suzanne's love for flowers, especially roses was well known, and she found great joy in tending to her garden.
Family was at the heart of Suzanne's life. She cherished every moment spent with loved ones and was a proud Busia/Buba, always present at her grandchildren's sporting events, plays, and activities. Her kitchen was filled with the aromas of traditional Polish foods and baked treats, reflecting her passion for cooking and baking.
A woman of deep faith, Suzanne was a devoted Catholic. She enjoyed lively games and card nights with family and Charlie, and she never passed up a sweet treat, especially ice cream. Suzanne welcomed everyone with open arms and was known for her kindness to all she met.
Her independence and gentle spirit remained with her until her last days. Suzanne's legacy is one of love, warmth, and unwavering support for her family and friends.
Suzanne is preceded in death by her husband Charles Smith and is survived by her Son-Nick (Sally) Smith; daughters Brenda (Bill) Forche & Debbie Knerr, Special daughter-in-law Debbie Smith; grandchildren Josh (Laura) Smith, Korrin (Brad) Steinhurst, Ben (Mandy) Forche, Jessica (Mike) Arnold, Danielle Smith, Christie (Eric) Otero, Alex (Amber) Smith, Dakota Knerr; great grandchildren Dorian (Lindsey) Pannell, Charlie Smith, Brayden & Kylie Steinhurst, Charlotte, Sadie, Milo & Sawyer Forche, Rowan Arnold, Micah, Xander & Trace Otero, Colton, Laney, & Bexley Smith and great great grandchildren Holden & future Baby Boy Pannell.
Her family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Sunday from 2 – 6 PM with a scripture service at 5 PM. Visitation will continue Monday after 10 AM in the narthex of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church 2240 Castlewood Dr. Toledo, OH 43613
