Obituary

Wilma Jean Sentle, with God's grace, passed peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

Wilma Jean Sentle was born to parents Jennie (Benson) and John S. Sentle on August 12, 1939. They provided her with 12 siblings to spend much of their lives together, and one infant sibling who died shortly after birth.

Wilma grew up in Fayette, Ohio and graduated from Gorham-Fayette School, having received the Curtis Vocational Division Certificate of Achievement.  She was active in many groups during her high school years but mostly in Choir.  She continued singing in her adult years as a long-time member of the Choir at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, where she was also a member of the Handbell Choir, and where she received a Certificate of Appreciation in Recognition of Outstanding Volunteer Service benefiting her community.

Wilma is survived by sister Jacqueline "Jackie" Creek.  She is preceded in death by the following brothers, sisters, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law: Laverne "George" Creek, Richard & Jean McLaughlin Sentle, Berneta &  Arthur  Bair, Doris & Chet Rudnicki, Francis "Bunny"  & Wilbur Sentle, Geneva & Jack Shirra, Martha & Richard Van Beers, Alice & Harold  Miller, Florence & Jim Holland, Lawrence Sentle, Sally (Witt) & Robert "Bob" Sentle, Mary & Robert "Bob" Gayer, and Marilyn & Leslie Sentle.

Wilma spent most of her adult life in Toledo and kept very busy working at Nabisco during the week and visiting or calling almost every sibling on the weekends. These visits were almost always short, but she could always keep the family communications going and checked in on everyone! She also was key to the organization of our yearly Benson-Sentle reunions.  Dear Wilma seemed never to forget someone's birthday or anniversary with a card and/or a phone call.  She had quite a list to keep up with, including 35 nieces and nephews and even more great nieces and great nephews.

Wilma's last few years were spent under the care of Three Meadows Post Acute (formerly Legacy, Perrysburg). Our family would like to sincerely thank this Staff for their care of our much beloved sister and Aunt.

One nephew, who made a point to visit with her on a regular basis, remarked that she never, ever complained about anything. That was her. The same said nephew had, however, been known to often complain after his visits with her saying, "You know that kind, sweet, little Aunt of ours? She just whooped my (you-know-what) in Rummy again, three games in a row!"   Wait, what was her last name again?

Wilma, you have made all of us feel loved and we will miss you very much!

Wilma's family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Tuesday after 3 PM followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 6 PM. In lieu of flowers,  memorial tributes may be made in her name to a local animal shelter or St. Paul's United Methodist Church 1201 Madison Ave. Toledo, OH 43604.
