Alfred (Al) R. Szabo, passed away peacefully at Hospice of Northwest Ohio-Toledo, on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 after a long battle with heart and kidney disease. Al was born October 12, 1959 in Oregon, Ohio to Alfred P. and Annabell (Varga) Szabo and graduated from Clay High School in 1977.
After high school, Al began his career in real estate becoming an appraiser of both residential and commercial properties.
He enjoyed fishing, golfing and watching basketball and hockey and was an avid Purdue University Boilermaker fan.
Al is preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law Roger (Rog) Grogg. He leaves behind his wife of 25 years, Tamara “Tammy”; daughters Grace and Olivia; sisters Suzie (Mark) Wixsom and Annie (Doug) Diefenthaler; mother-in-law Marilyn (Mert) Grogg; sisters-in-law Kelly (Sam) Jennings and Amy Grogg, as well as many nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.
His family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Friday April 4th after 2 followed by Sharing of Memories and Funeral Prayers beginning at 6:30 PM.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the many nurses, doctors, and staff at Northwood Davita Dialysis, Cleveland Clinic, Mercy St. Anne Hospital, Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center and Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
