Armando David Portillo passed away November 6, 2025 in University of Toledo Medical College at the age of 69. He was born December 1, 1955 in Toledo to Antonio and Elfida (Guerra) Portillo and graduated from Woodward High School in 1972. After high school, Armando started a career in culinary arts becoming a great cook at various Mexican restaurants throughout Toledo and was known for his mouth-watering tamales.
He enjoyed Mexican music and collected ceramic frog, which he started to give away to his family. Armando loved plant and flowers and had a green thumb and would spruce up the area around his apartment.
He truly loved his family but most of all his Faith and love for the Lord, Jesus Christ came first. He would share his morning prayers with his family and would always be there to support and encourage others.
Armando is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Juan. He is survived by his brothers Edwards, Michael (Rose) and Gary L. (Rachel) Portillo; 7 nieces and nephews; and 9 great nieces and nephews; special friends John & Laura Mettler; and BEST friend his dog Zoey.
His family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Thursday from 3-7 PM where funeral prayers will be said Friday at 10:15 AM followed by Funeral Mass in Our lady of Lourdes Catholic Church 6149 Hill Ave. at 11 AM.
His family would like to thank the Springfield Twp. EMS, the ICU Dept. at UTMC and all those who assisted with his care. Memorial tributes may be made to DaVita Dialysis center.
