Aurora was born in Las Flores, TX on August 29, 1933 to Francisca and Guadalupe Gutierrez. Although life was not easy for her in younger years, Aurora still came out strong, loving and kind. She was an amazing mother of 15 children. As the head of the family she embodied the heart, soul and power of her multi-generational and multi-ethnic family. “Mama Aurora” loved Mexican dancing, Ramon Ayla, her novelas, making tortillas (everyone’s favorite), cream of wheat and chicken mole. She loved babies and taking care of her grandkids as if there were her own.
Aurora enjoyed making up missed time with her family in Florida and Texas over the last few decades. She was able to live a long life of 86 years, loved by many and leaving behind hundreds of family members to keep her memory alive. She will be missed and loved always and forever.
Aurora was preceded in death by her parents Francisca and Guadalupe Gutierrez; Children Rafael Garcia, Juan Garcia and Ismael Garcia; sisters Juanita, Sara and brother Guadalupe. She was survived by her children Udella Leon, Jose Garcia, Rosa Garcia (Alberto), Guadalupe Garcia (Jessica), Aurora Garcia, Elvira Garcia (Bush), Pedro Garcia, Roberto Garcia (Laura), Anita Garcia (Keith), Juanita Mershon (Tony), Erica Coleman; siblings Selestina, Flora and Amado; as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Her Family will receive friends for limited visitation (masks must be worn, 40 in building at all times, guest please limit your time so that others may have a chance to pay their respects and social distancing will be observed inside facilities) at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Monday after from 4 – 8 PM and Tuesday at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church 728 S. St. Clair Toledo, OH after 10 AM followed by Funeral Mass at 11 AM.
