Charles “Butch” Rainey Sr. age 73 of Toledo Ohio was embraced into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 19th, 2023, after a short battle with cancer.
Butch was born on April 12th, 1950, to Onnie James Rainey and Nettie Jean McAdams. He was a graduate of Waite High School and worked most of his life as a semi-truck driver. He loved to listen to, write and sing gospel music. He was a dreamer, loved to tell jokes that took 10 times to get. He could fix anything with a roll of Gorilla Tape and some 3-inch drywall screws. He loved to play his guitar and sing around a fire while camping with his family. He passed his love of riding motorcycles to his children and would ride as often as he could. But spending time with his family was his greatest joy. His ultimate wish was to one day look back from the front pew of his beloved church and see it filled with his children and grandchildren.
Butch was preceded in death by his father Onnie and Mother Nettie. His grandchildren, Christopher, Amanda and Nikki, great-grandchild Avery as well as his niece Sally Ann.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 36 years Robin, children; Charles (Christine) Rainey Jr., Cynthia (Daniel) Bancroft, Caryn (Daniel) Lynch and Christi Dzenis. Grandchildren; Charles (Dana), Caylynn, Caleb, Cymantha (Rob), Jessica (Michael), Matthew, Ryan, Nicholas, Veronica(Jordan), TJ, Megan, Rebecca, Nina, Neal, Lexi, Taylor and Bryson. Greatgrandchildren; Antonio, Hailey, Cameron, Aubree, Aubrey, Carsyn, Elijah, Averie, Stella and Viviana. Siblings; Sue (David) Smith, Rebecca (Fred) Gonzales and baby brother David (Tammy) Rainey.
Butch’s family will receive friends at Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. on Monday, July 24th 4-7pm with a memorial service at 7pm officiated by Pastor Roy Hayes.
The family would like to thank Butch’s primary care provider Stephanie Gerdeman, the staff at Promedica Toledo Hospital and Hospice of Northwest Ohio. A special thank you to our friends at The Covenant Church and The Perrysburg YMCA.
