David Gregory Etzel

David Gregory Etzel passed away unexpectedly from heart disease on Sunday May 14, 2023 in his home at the age of 56. He was born July 28, 1966 in Toledo to David B. & Sharon (Schellhase) Etzel and graduated from Whitmer High School in 1984.

After high school, Dave took a job at his dad’s business Art Mattress. He then began washing trucks at Heidtman Steel where he remained for 31 years eventually becoming a steel cutter.

Dave loved all cars, attended many car shows and was an avid NASCAR fan. His pride and joy was his 1971 Chevrolet Nova SS.

Dave was loved by everyone who met him and he would be happy to have a beer with you. He will be missed by everyone especially his childhood friends of 50 plus years who became his Brothers; Brian Brechbill, Jeff Kurth, Brian Kurth and Greg Kurth.

Dave is preceded in death by his parents and uncle Fr. Raymond Etzel.

He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years Valerie; son David (Melissa Hernandez); son Dan (Lindsey Lawitzke); daughter Suzanne Lewandowski; and three grandkids Brayden, Davien and Rosalee; Aunt Judy (Bob Wilson) Kasper.

Dave’s family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Monday May 22nd after 3 PM followed by funeral services at 7 PM. Memorial tributes may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
