With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Dennis Vincent Bolbach, who peacefully departed this world on Monday, November 6, 2023.
Dennis was born in Toledo, Oh, on April 3, 1945, the son of Richard Glenn and Doris Elizabeth Bolbach.
Dennis graduated from Toledo Central Catholic, then attended and graduated from the University of Dayton, where he met the love of his life and wife of 55 years, Virginia Rose Gietl. Dennis returned to Toledo, where he would start and finish his career at his Alma Mater. During his 42-year tenure with Central Catholic, he served as a teacher, football coach,Athletic Director, and Dean of Men.
Dennis was inducted into the Central Catholic Athletic Hall of Fame in 1990 for his on-field football performance and later for being a member of the 1962 State Championship team. He received a four-year football scholarship to the University of Dayton, where he became a 3-year letter recipient.
Due to his love for football, Dennis served as a coach for St. Agnes School, part of the Catholic Youth Organization. This opportunity allowed him to share his passion with his own children and numerous other players as he continued to coach and mentor well after his children moved on.
Dennis was an avid golfer,playing 4-5 days a week with his wife Virginia. He also had a knack for woodworking and enjoyed designing, creating, and gifting his work to family and friends. Another passion he possessed was sharing his love for slot car racing with his grandchildren.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Virginia; daughter, Rebecca (Steve) Macy of Memphis, TN; sons, Peter (Angela) Bolbach of Aurora, OH and Benjamin (Samantha) Bolbach of Sylvania, OH; siblings, Richard (Pat) Bolbach, Barton Bolbach, Chris (Brian) Kleman and Tim (Elaine) Bolbach; grandchildren, Olivia, Andrew, Lauren, Noah, Anna, Adeline, and Evangeline.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, son, Andrew; and sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Bolbach and Mary Eleanor Maloy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Kidney Fund or the Epilepsy Center of Northwest Ohio.
Dennis’s family will receive friends Saturday November 11th at Blessed Sacrament Church, 2240 Castlewood Drive in Toledo after 9:30 AM followed by the Funeral Mass a t11 AM with interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
