Edwin Aguilera

Edwin Aguilera, (64) of Wauseon, Ohio, passed away on August 12, 2023. Edwin was born to Anibal Aguilera and Victoria Ramos, on August 8, 1959, in Villamontes, Tarija, Bolivia and grew up in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia. In 2000, he moved his family to the United States in search for a better life for his children. Edwin was a hard worker who loved this country. In his free time, Edwin greatly enjoyed running, attending concerts, movies, and soccer matches, with his favorite teams being Blooming, Boca Juniors, and the Argentinean National Team. He especially loved to sing, and he would often spend nights singing along with his children. Among his favorite artists were Palito Ortega and Juan Gabriel. Although Edwin found immense fulfillment in his work and pastimes, Edwin's greatest joy came from being a devoted father, husband, and grandfather. He was proud of his wife, children, and grandchildren.

 Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 39 years, Candelaria Aguilera; his children; Carolina (Brian) Aguilera-Scherf, David Aguilera, Claudia Aguilera, and Daniel Aguilera and his grandchildren; Austin James Phillips, Isabella Phillips, Savannah St. John, Israel St. John, and Henry Scherf. Edwin is also lovingly remembered by his brothers, Julio Aguilera, and Miguel Siles; his sister, Rosario Aguilera; and a host of coworkers and many friends in the United States and Bolivia. Aside from his love for his family, Edwin was passionate about giving back to his community. He loved helping others. It was not uncommon for Edwin to pack and share food with those less fortunate. Often inviting them for a large meal at his home. Edwin positively impacted our community, and he will be truly missed.

Edwin’s family will receive friends at St. Caspar's Catholic Church located at 1205 N. Shoop Ave, Wauseon, OH on Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 9 AM to 11 AM for a visitation followed by a Memorial Funeral Mass at 11 AM officiated by Fr. Todd Dominique. Memorial contributions may be given to the benevolence of the family.
