Ernesto Peña Sr., 83, of Toledo, OH passed away on October 20, 2021 at his home. He was born to Felix and Emma (Morales) Peña in the Rio Grande Valley on May 19, 1938. Ernesto was a loving and committed husband to his wife, Dolores (Ybarra) Peña for 61 years. Ernesto devoted most of his working life to Babcock Dairy and Johns Manville.
Ernesto, deeply proud of his roots, was an intensely compassionate and caring man, he took pride in helping those in need with everything he could. He was happy as a family man and had a love for vintage cars and Dallas Cowboys football, the depths of that love unparalleled. His moral compass and charitable nature go unmeasured, yet fondly remembered by the many that held him dear.
He was preceded in death by his parents Felix and Emma, siblings Felix Jr., Manuel Sr., and Antonia, as well as sons, Manuel Peña Sr. and Eduardo Peña. As a devoted family man, he leaves behind to cherish his memory; his wife Dolores: children, Ernesto Peña Jr., Maria Dolores Sulaica, Ricardo Peña, and Emma Legech, his special granddaughters Lisa Marie Peña and Elizabeth Peña, as well as 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; as well as sisters Fela Luna, Marta Peña, Pilar Peña and brother Pancho Peña.
His family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home on Thursday October 28th after 3 PM followed by a Funeral Prayer Service at 7 PM. Guests are welcome to wear Dallas Cowboys apparel in honor of Ernesto.
