Gerald Alan Keefer, born April 14, 1958, died December 29, 2023, after a long and courageous struggle with lung cancer that metastasized to the brain. A quiet man all his life, Jerry was happiest at home with his family, where he spent most of his time. A serious back injury 25 years ago prompted the end of his work with Chrysler Engine, but he continued to occupy his time with a variety of hobbies including buying and selling on eBay, at-home work assembling products for various entities, and simply reveling in the company and activities of his wife and daughters.
He is survived by his wife, Gayle Lewis Keefer, daughters, Andrea Keefer and Kayla Keefer, his sister, Deborah Keefer Kendrick (Cincinnati), and brothers, Richard Keefer (Bradenton, Florida) and Michael Bittle (Drummond Island, Michigan), his grandson, Caidyn, as well as four nieces, two nephews, and twelve grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Ellen Peters Keefer, and father Karl W. Keefer Jr. Jerry rarely ventured from home, preferring to be in the quiet company of his wife, daughters, and dogs. Even as a baby and little boy, he preferred being at home to loud or crowded venues. He enjoyed his family, his dogs, good food, and laughter. He loved being surrounded by his Steelers, Nascar, ducks and hunting memorabilia. He will be deeply missed.
Jerry’s family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Toledo, OH 43613 Friday January 5th from 5 – 7 PM where funeral services will be held Saturday January 6th at 10 AM followed by entombment at Toledo Memorial Park.
