Howard “Bob” Menchaca
1957-2018
Bob Menchaca passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 14, 2018. He was 61-years-old.
Bob was born in Toledo, Ohio on June 26, 1957 to Rosendo and Ernestine Menchaca. His passion was sports, and he was one of the many elite athletes to come from the city’s east side. Bob was a star football player at Cardinal Stritch High School where he graduated in 1976. He later went on to play semi-pro football with the Toledo Patriots after that.
While he loved many sports, Bob was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and Detroit Tigers and enjoyed watching all the games. He was also known to be very kind-hearted and gentle, and it showed through his love for animals and kids. Bob also had a great sense of humor and loved to joke with his loving family and friends.
He is survived by his parents, Rosendo “Rusty” and Ernestine “Tina” Menchaca, brothers: Russ, Randy and Mark, sisters: Annie and Maria, “love of his life”, doggy Sofia,“best friend” Mark Bires, many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.
Family will receive guests for visitation on Friday, November 23, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Castillo Funeral Home at 1757 Tremainsville Road in Toledo, Ohio. with a scripture service at 7:30 PM. Additional visitation will also take place from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. the following day, Saturday, November 24, 2018, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church located at 729 White Street in Toledo. A funeral mass celebrating Bob’s life will start immediately after.
