Jerry Wayne Mathis was born October 7, 1945, in Yellow Creek, Tennessee to Robert and Edith (England) Mathis. He worked at DT & I Railroad as a conductor and brakeman for 30 years.
He enjoyed bowling, golf, fishing and eating at Ocean Garden Buffet with his favorite servers. Jerry was a true family man and was married to his loving wife Wanda (Hunter) for 57 years. He was an amazing father and grandfather. His greatest pleasure was attending his daughters and grandsons’ activities with his favorite pal, Boss.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Dorothy Ellison; son-in law Michael Leimenstoll and his dog Gunnar.
Jerry is survived by his wife Wanda, two daughters Katherine Mathis, Jeri Mathis (Frank Wyrostek), two grandsons Shane Wyrostek (Ellen Richman), Jacob Wyrostek (Lyndi), sister Ruth Dendinger and several nieces and a nephew. His family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lucas County Canine Care and Control Cuties fund where he adopted his best pal Boss.
