Mary Ann Kaszubowski Obituary

Maryann passed away at Beaumont, Trenton Hospital ICUon Monday, March 23, 2020 after a long struggle to recover from a car accident on February 17, 2020.

Maryann was born on July 2, 1946 in Alpena, Michigan the first born of 4 girls.  She was named Mary and when her Grandmother Martha Panowicz first saw her she said in broken English “That’s my Maddyann” and Mary was from then on was called Maryann by family and friends who knew her.

Maryann graduated from Gods Bible School in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1964 and from Adrian, Michigan Bixby Hospital School of Nursing in 1966 graduating as a Licensed Practical Nurse.  She went on to Graduate from Prescription Medical School in 1984.  Maryann was employed by Bixby Hospital as a LPN, Blue Cross Blue Shield in Ann Arbor, Michigan doing medical transcriptions and billing, at a Special Needs Nursing Home in Ann Arbor, Michigan and lastly Maryann was employed as a prison nurse at the Federal Correctional Institution in Milan, Michigan and retired from that job.

Maryann has enjoyed traveling and shared that love with her Grandmother Pearl Brockway, Aunt Ruby Rodgers and sisters Arlene, Jeanette and Pat.  She really enjoyed having Sunday dinner, playing games and going to bingo with her sister Arlene.  Maryann enjoyed researching the Kaszubowski/Hayka and Brockway/Hoffman family genealogy by traveling to several libraries in Michigan, Ohio and Connecticut.  She poured over microfilm at the Adrian, Lansing, Monroe and Petersburg Michigan libraries 3 days a week for 20 years.  Maryann enjoyed doing the research and Pat entered all of the information on her computer and Ancestry. After Maryann purchased a computer the next 10 years she looked up obituaries from newspapers and funeral homes sending email links to Pat sometimes as many as 30 a day.  The family tree on Ancestry is added to daily with information Maryann found and contains copies of birth, sports, engagements, weddings and obituaries that she found.  The family tree is full of detailed information because of Maryann's love and dedication. Maryann enjoyed knitting and crocheting trying new patterns to make things for family.  She was not a person to have a frilly or fancy home as she lived in a modest place with the basic necessities.  Her family meant the world to her and she gave them so many personal gifts of things that they collected or enjoyed.

Maryann is survived by her spunky, mischievous love of her life Precious the cat.

She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters Jeannette Jewell and Arlene Coleman.
