Oscar “Yoka” Torres passed away unexpectedly in his home on Sunday June 13th at the age of 61. He was born March 5, 1960 in Toledo to Salome and Edwarda (Trevino) Torres and attended Libbey High School. Yoka was self-employed and was always hard worker providing for his family. He enjoyed the outdoors and would go camping and loved to fish. He also was a big football fan especially the Dallas Cowboys (mainly the Cheerleader) and The Ohio State Buckeyes.His pride and joy was his family, Yoka loved being a grandpa. He randomly would call his siblings and sing to them and would also visit his brother Mario every morning at 5 a.m. and would have coffee.
Yoka is preceded in death by his parents Salome & Edwarda Torres; wife Julie; sister Yolanda Shanteau; niece Ellisa Shanteau and infant brother Oscar I. He is survived by his children Crystal (Alan) Aiken, Donald (Sarah Hooks) Browder and Beth (Charles) Torres; grandchildren Aaliyah, Trevor, Lazaro, Natasha, Izayah, Izabella, Charles, Jr., William, Emma, Aubrianna and Brayden; siblings Rachel Doyle, Ema Casares, Lavin Torres, Juanita (Louis) Martinez, Mario (Terry Stevens) Torres, Fernando (Alice) Torres, Marcus Torres, Victoria (Greg) Dartt, Cindy Torres, Lisa (Edward) Mitchell and Johanny Blue as well as his beloved dog “King”.
Family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Monday after 4 PM followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 7 PM. Memorial tributes may be made to the family via this website to offset expenses.
