Pamala Hammerstrom Obituary

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Pam Hammerstrom on July 15, 2021.

Pam passed away peacefully at Storypoint of Waterville, after battling various health issues for the past couple years.  She was born in Toledo, OH on January 7th, 1948 to Fern Vander Aarde and James Mickens.  She was a beloved mother, wife, sister, and grandmother.

Pam graduated from Woodward High School and worked several years as an executive assistant, including several years at General Tire/GenCorp, before retiring.

Known to many as Pammer, she lived life to the fullest.  She was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. Pam and Don often hosted fun-filled pool and holiday parties that are still talked about today.  You could often find Pam dancing to Neil Diamond, Rod Stewart, or the Bee Gees with her favorite Bacardi and diet, tall glass, lots of ice, & no lime in hand. :)  Pam also loved to travel around the world with Don, with Switzerland and Cancun being her favorites.  She also loved to gamble, she never passed up an opportunity to travel to play video poker at a casino near or far away.

Proceeding Pam in death was her loving husband, Don who was everything to her and who she looked forward to being reunited with.  She was also preceded in death by her brother Ronald Mickens and her two best friends, Rosie Styer and Carol Loga.  Safe to say that Pam and Don are once again hosting epic parties.

Pam is survived by her sons, Scott(Sarah) Wojtowicz, Todd(Cassie) Hammerstrom, Rory(Lynn) Hammerstrom, and Tom Wojtowicz.  She also leaves behind her beloved granddaughters, Madi, Katie, Summer, Brittany, and Savannah. Whether it was attending Madi’s musicals, Katie’s games, or traveling to visit Summer, Brittany, and Savannah in Lawrenceburg, the girls meant the world to her.  In addition, Pam is also survived by her great-grandchildren and nieces/nephews.

A special thank you to Storypoint of Waterville for their great care of Pam the past few years.  Far too many employees to individually thank, but a couple special thank yous to Tara and Jody for their amazing care, and more importantly the friendship they showed to her.  Pam truly appreciated your kindness and friendship.

A private memorial service will be at a later date.  Pam loved animals and will be happy to be reunited with her dogs, Pierre, Bailey, and her cockatiel Simon.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name to the Toledo Humane Society or Humane Ohio.
