Ronald "Ron" Dee Durbin was placed in God's hands on Easter Sunday at age 82 with his loved ones at his side. He was born in Detroit, Michigan to Walter Durbin Sr. and LaVerne Buckman Durbin. When Ron was young he attended a Military Academy which assisted in evolving his exceptional mathematical skills. He was a voracious reader and he conquered the art of speed reading. In the early 1970s, he spent time and money on drag racing his Mustang. He loved all sports, and he had a special interest in college matchups.
Ron did have his favorite teams but he mostly enjoyed the competition of the game. He was fond of all his fur babies and had a special relationship with his cat, Murphy as well as Abigail, Mouse and Reagan.
Over the years Ron had many ventures. He managed service stations for the Tulsa Oil Company, he owned several bookstores, he operated his own trucking company, he dabbled with vending machines, he drove for the Orlando Baking Company, and he even learned to repair alternators, however, he was most passionate about teaching and preparing tax returns for his clients.
Ron loved his family. He was caring, compassionate and had a jovial sense of humor. He was the master of one-liners and we have all been blessed to enjoy his humor and wit. Ron was a casual man so please leave your suits and ties at home.
Ron has been reunited in heaven with his parents Walter & LaVerne; his sister Deanna; his brother Donald and sisters in law Shirley and Kay.
Ron is survived by his love of 32 years, Peggy Lynn; his children Marsha, Carol, Ron Jr (Michelle), Kris (Russ) Hawkins, Karen (Tom) Wilhelm, and Timothy; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; his brother Wally; his nephews Dale & Kenny and his niece Kelly.
The family would like to give an extra special thanks to all the caregivers who showed Ron compassion and kindness throughout his journey.
Please consider making any memorial contributions to The Cherry Street Mission as Ron had a special place in his heart for the work of this organization.
Friends will gather at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Tuesday April 18th after 4:30 PM followed by a Sharing of Memories at 7 PM.
