Russell Barlow Dicken

Russell B. Dicken, 89, passed away peacefully May 8, 2025. He was born August 7, 1935 in Cumberland County, Kentucky, to Clarence and Ira (Garner) Dicken.

After moving to Toledo, Ohio in 1955, he worked for Standard Garment company, later becoming an employee of and retiring from Riker Products Inc., formerly Toledo Truck Tubes, after more than 30 years of service. Ordained by the Freewill Baptist Church, he ministered to several churches in Northwest Ohio.

Russell was married to his wife Dorothy “Dot” Carter for 60 years. Together they raised a family of 5 children. He was lovingly called “Poppa” by 11 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He is survived by his son Keith (Jean) of Denver, NC, and his daughters Lisa Waggoner of Toledo and Kenya Meeks of Swanton. Russell was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, son Christopher, daughter Regina, sons-in-law Mike Waggoner and Steve Meeks, 4 brothers and 4 sisters.

Russell could be found working in his yard, gardening, and growing anything his green thumb could get ahold of. He enjoyed woodworking in his shop, creating many items of sentimental value for his family. He was a devoted fan of the Kentucky Wildcats, the Detroit Lions, and enjoyed watching dirt track racing.

Russell’s family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Tuesday  from 2 -7 PM where funeral services will be held Wednesday  at 12 Noon  followed by interment at Forest Cemetery.
