Santiago Raphael Ruiz, Jr.

Santiago Raphael Ruiz, Jr. passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday April 26, 2022 at the age of 17.  Santiago was born November 17, 2004 in Toledo to Santiago Rafael Ruiz and Lynna Lopez.  He was a Junior at Roy C. Start High School.  He loved playing sports and was on the Whittier Jets football team, the Longfellow baseball team and the Travel Baseball Dream Park throughout his elementary years.  Santiago while in high school was a member of the freshman football team and the Junior Varsity baseball team.

He also loved playing video games all night long, he loved to challenge anyone to a race because he knew he would win. 

He was loved by so many he had a face you couldn’t forget, his smile was contagious and would light up the room.  He love his parents dearly and regardless of how old he was he was always a mommy’s boy.

Santiago is preceded in death by great grandparents Nickie Espinoza and Conception & Fidencio Parraz, Mary & Tony Lopez; Uncle Angelo Ruiz.  He is survived by mother Lynna Lopez; father Santiago (Kristi) Ruiz; stepmom Julie Myers; siblings Angelina Ruiz, Aliciana Ruiz, Luciano Ruiz, Esteban Camejo, and Alejandro Camejo; grandparents Anna (Kelly) Hurley, Vincente (Dolores) Lopez, Elena Parraz, Tony Ruiz, and Dave Myers; aunts Leticia (Damacio) Lopez, Victoria (Ryan) Lopez, Marcellina (Rudy) Ruiz, Dusty (Lucio) Myers, Brandy, Misty, Erica; uncles Vincente Lopez, Jr., Joseph Parraz, John Dorn, and Tyler; as well as many cousins great aunts and uncles.

His family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Friday from 3 – 7 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at Christ the King 4100 Harvest Lane on Saturday May 7th at 10AM followed by interment at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial tributes may be made to his family via this website to help offset expenses.
