Simon Vasquez, Sr. passed away Saturday October 5th in Legacy of Perrysburg at the age of 80. He was born July 1, 1944 in Toledo to Jose Sr. & Paula (Salas) Vasquez and graduated from Clay High School. Simon was a machine operator at Crown Cork & Seal before retiring.
He loved living his life to the fullest. Simon was a sharp dresser and would always be talking and making friends where he went. He enjoyed dancing to Tejano Music at Senor Toro or the Latinos United. Simon also enjoyed watching Western Movies and sports especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. He truly loved the Lord and was attending services at Cedar Creek weekly.
Simon is preceded in death by his parents Jose & Paula Vasquez, Sr.; son Samuel Vasquez; brother Raul Vasquez; sister Celia Vasquez; brother-in-law Jose Medina and nephews Paul Garza and Sebastian “Sob-Sob” Guerrero. He is survived by his wife Erminia Vasquez; son Simon, Jr.; sisters Alice (Gene) Garza, Antonia Vasquez, Elena Vasquez, Guadalupe (Rick) Garcia Carol Medina, and Angie Vasquez; brothers Jose (Jan) Vasquez, Jesse (Vicky) Vasquez and Jimmy (Patty) Vasquez; grandchildren Simon Michael, Angelica, Maci, Mlyah, Samuel, Anthony, Desmon and Avion and Goddaughter Crissy Vasquez.
Simon’s family will receive friends at the Castillo Funeral Home 1757 Tremainsville Rd. Thursday from 4-7 and Friday after 9:30 AM with funeral prayers at 10:15 followed by Funeral Mass at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church at 11 AM.
