Stanley Ostas passed away peacefully in his home on Friday May 28, 2021 at the age of 86. He was born in Anarahi, Macedonia to Mincho & Slava Ostas and immigrated to the United States as a child.
Stanley was a well known restaurateur in Toledo. In the 1960’s, he owned the Doorbell Bar, then The Wheel Restaurant in downtown Toledo and The Balkan Inn in Sylvania and later starting his most successful accomplishment the El Matador Restaurants in Toledo and Findlay. Stanley was respected and loved by all his employees and customers. When he was not at work he enjoyed spending time in his garden growing tomatoes and peppers. Stanley loved cooking and was famous for his rice pudding and grape leaves.
He was a longtime member of St. George Cathedral in Rossford where he loved to sing and was the choir director for many years.
Stanley is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his loving wife of 65 yrs. Margaret; sons Michael (Linda), Stanley, Daniel and Nicholas (Laurie)’ eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and brother Mincho (Irimoni) Ostas.
Family will receive friends at St. George Orthodox Church 738 Glenwood, Rossford, OH Tuesday from 3 – 8 PM where funeral services will be held Wednesday 10 AM.with interment to follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements have been entrusted with the Castillo Funeral Home. His family prefers memorial tributes be made to the church.
